How to light a Bunsen Buener
Aim: To successfully light a Bunsen Burner
Materials:
1) Bunsen Burner
2) Rubber Tube/ Gas Pipe ( only if it is not attached to the Bunsen Burner already)
3) Match
4) Test Tube holder
5)Test Tube
Safety Precaution:
Careful when lighting the flames, and holding the test tube. Make sure you are wearing safety glasses, and your hair is not in the way. Also make sure, when you are lighting your match, it is not aimed at anyone. As for the Test Tube holding, be cautious that your hand is not too close to the flame WARNING: TEST TUBE HOLDERS ARE NECESSARY FOR ANY EXPERIMENT. Always be accompanied by an adult/teacher.
Method:
1) Attach the rubber hose of the Bunsen Burner to the gas top.
2) Close the air hole
3) Light the match
4)Place flame of match near Bunsen Burner.
5) turn on the gas.
6)Blow out the match
7)Open the air hole
8)Hold the test tube over Bunsen Burner ( with Test Tube Holder - until it has reached the desired temperature)
9) Close the air hole again
10)Turn of the gas
Hypothesis:
The Bunsen Burner should probably be successfully been lit (between methods 5 and 7).
